'Watery diarrhea' cases surge in Quebec, as Michigan identifies lettuce as possible source of outbreak

A multistate outbreak of cyclosporiasis has prompted a voluntary recall of iceberg lettuce sold by Taylor Farms de Mexico of Guanajuato, Mexico.

A spokesperson ​for Taylor Farms, the supplier of the lettuce reportedly at the centre of the outbreak, said the company was informed the FDA made a mistake.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said on ‌Sunday that laboratory experts re-reviewed sample results ​in the Taylor Farms ​Cyclospora investigation and concluded the finding ​should be considered a false ‌positive.

The US Food and Drug Administration says iceberg lettuce supplied by Taylor Farms and sold at Taco Bell and Walmart locations was the source of cyclosporiasis infections.

Taylor Farms is now expanding a recall of iceberg lettuce to 27 states.
