US reviews proposal to end 60-day grace period after job loss for H1-B, other visa holders

The biggest change would be the loss of time. Under the existing system, an H-1B worker facing termination can immediately begin searching for another position while remaining in the US. The proposed system could turn that process into a much more abrupt decision.

If finalised, foreign workers will have to leave the United States immediately if they lose their employment before their authorised stay expires.
