Three lions die of suspected heatstroke at Tokyo zoo as Japan swelters

The female lions died within five days of each other despite zookeepers’ efforts to shelter them from Japan’s blistering summer temperatures.

The zoo said that 10 of its 16 lions have been ill. Japan has been experiencing an extreme heat wave since late July.
