Unitree makes stellar start in Shanghai as investors clamour for shares

Shares in the world's biggest humanoid robot maker started trading on Shanghai's Star market on Wednesday.

Unitree Robotics is set to begin trading in Shanghai Wednesday after raising 6.1 billion yuan ($904 million) in an initial public offering that will make it the first publicly traded humanoid robot maker in mainland China.

Unitree sold more than 5,500 humanoids and 18,000 quadrupeds last year, company filings show, and it's now valued at about $9 billion ahead of its stock market debut on Wednesday.

It achieved a standing jump of 2 metres and reached a top speed of 12.66 metres per second.
