Hurricane warning issued for western Hawaii as Lowell approaches

Hurricane Lowell was expected to pass near Kauai Monday night.

The National Hurricane Center posted a hurricane warning for western Hawaii's Kauai County as Hurricane Lowell moved toward the area as a Category 2 storm.

Hawaii has issued a statewide flood watch, as officials warn residents to stay home and off the roads. NBC News’ Liz Kreutz reports from Kauai.
