President’s vow comes after a federal judge rejects effort to rename building

The president said renovations would not move forward unless his name was added to the building.

A federal judge ruled Tuesday the Kennedy Center “cannot install memorials for President Trump or anyone or anything else” without congressional approval.

The board of the Kennedy Center voted on Tuesday to close over financial issues and a dispute over putting President Donald Trump's name on the iconic performing arts venue, the president confirmed on social media Tuesday.

The judge ruled that the arts center's board may not put Trump's name back up on the building, saying such a change needs Congressional approval.

The board's vote to shutter the historic arts center came amid concerns about financial, structural problems.
