France closes up to 500 schools on Monday as more protests planned

The student protests that rocked France last week have prompted authorities to keep up to 500 schools closed on Monday. A teenage boy lost his hand, seemingly while trying to pick up a police tear gas grenade.

Lessons will be ‘totally or partly suspended’ in some second level schools after clashes between riot police and student protesters, France’s education minister says.
