A small ‌Cessna 441 plane operated by a private charter company crashed near a US military-managed radar site in Alaska. All on board have reportedly died.

A plane crash in a remote region of Alaska has left eight people dead, including two U.S. Army Corps of Engineers employees. The crash happened at Cape Newenham Long Range Radar Site Airport, some 450 miles west of Anchorage.

Pilots operating a plane that crashed near a military airstrip in Alaska Thursday were battling bad weather conditions and had aborted a landing attempt prior to the accident, according to the US National Transportation Safety Board.

The Cessna 441, which left from Anchorage, crashed shortly after 12:15pm local time on Thursday while headed to Cape Newenham Long Range Radar site.
