Alberta to review Amber Alert criteria after Calgary boy’s death

After a multi-week search in July for Parker, an 11-year-old Calgary boy, ended after he was confirmed dead, the provincial government is assessing whether improvements are needed to its emergency alert system.

Amber Alerts are mainly reserved for when it's believe a child has been abducted and in danger, but the province granted an exception in Parker's case due to his vulnerable state.

Review will assess criteria that needs to be met for an alert to be issued and will include the perspectives of police, disability advocates and other community organizations
